The scariest device of the year

Someone put a hidden chip inside a crypto wallet. The chip has its own mobile line.

This isn't a Halloween prank. Ledger confirmed it found an unauthorized implant in devices.

In short

Ledger confirmed an unauthorized implant in devices sold by a reseller called CryptoBilis; it read the 24 recovery words shown during setup and sent them out over eSIM. Buy hardware wallets from the manufacturer's own store, and never set up a device that ships with a word list.

Today's script

Someone put a hidden chip inside a crypto wallet. The chip has its own mobile line. This isn't a Halloween prank. Ledger confirmed it found an unauthorized implant in devices. The devices came from a reseller in Southeast Asia called CryptoBilis. Researchers say they sold for almost half the price. During setup, the screen shows 24 words. The chip read the screen and sent the words over eSIM. The chip didn't touch the Secure Element or the software. That's why Genuine Check can't see it. On-chain estimates say up to $93 million left more than 300 wallets. Ledger didn't confirm the number. One of the victims was a scammer too. They lost 60 BTC collected through fake job ads. If you can, buy your wallet from the manufacturer's own store. If a word list comes out of the box, never set up that device. If you already have a wallet, open the invoice. Look up the seller in the manufacturer's reseller list. Tomorrow: money was taken from your card. What do you do in the first 10 minutes?
